One of the age-old statement pieces that stay on the current throughout the decades is scarf. Play up a loop, tie a knot, clip it, braid it, or drape it all over your shoulder; scarf makes for an easy, fun, and affordable way to spice up your outfit. One fine afternoon, Kufed had the chance to collaborate with stylist Rahajeng Puspitasari in doing a sartorial spread on ways of wearing scarf. Alongside liveliness provided by Filip von Polen scarves, we’ve witnessed just how colors and patterns in a scarf could have the charm to elevate any outfit—and even any mood—to the next level of delight in various ways.
There are definitely dozens of ways to utilize a scarf, but we’ve rounded up 5 staple ways on how to make the most out of a scarf (or two) in order to enhance your clothing ensemble:
Look 1: A Pinch of Marigold
Twist and turn your scarf into an obi belt to add a splash of colors to an otherwise monochromatic formal wear. The accent we opted for this look was an obi belt; a style that resulted in a wide, layered sash wrapped and tucked around the waist to accentuate the figure.
Look 2: Rhapsody in Blue
Has the weather gone a little chilly lately? If so, we suggest bringing a bit of warmth by bundling up a scarf around the neck. Wrap the scarf twice around the neck leaving the knotted end free downwards. The fact that it casually balances out the white shirt and ripped jeans combination is also such a bonus point.
Look 3: On The Dance Flow
It always takes two to tango, but yesterday we took two scarves to tie a knot instead. If you ever find yourself bored with your classic little black dress, just remedy the situation by picking up two scarves and tying a knot on each shoulder. Cinch at the waist by belting out a wide black sash, and voilà, it’s a brand new dress. Want another chic option? Loosen the knots and you’ll find yourself wearing a pretty skirt. Both looks stand out with an air of flowing silhouette and edgy vibe.
Look 4: Dreaming in Aquamarine
One-shoulder shift dress hits all the right notes for just about any occasion, from an afternoon cocktail to a night soiree. On this look, we’ve got the hair braided to a side without taking the focal point away from the dress. Other complementing alternative is to add on some simple dangling eardrop for that tiny floating accent above the bare shoulder.
Look 5: A Scarlet Story
‘90s fashion trademarks are coming back, and head bandana is one of them. Although people all over the world have been donning hair scarves for reasons more meaningful than to hide greasy roots, we personally think that this style is particularly useful to vamp up the hair or a messy bun on a bad hair day. In fact, tying a pop of red like this around the head will guarantee there’ll never be a dull hair moment followed.
